Creating the Potential for Stability in Afghanistan

Mondo International, Inc. outlines the need for proactive companies to create viable solutions for the U.S. Government to act on in order to stabilize Afghanistan and protect coalition forces.

WASHINGTON, DC, -- As the US Government prepares to expand and refocus it’s efforts in Afghanistan, U.S. Department of Defense contractor Mondo International, Inc. believes proactive transportation, logistics and distribution companies working in the region will provide the necessary options for the U.S. to succeed.

“We are now at the threshold where forward thinking companies are needed to pave the way to create viable solutions for the US Government and USTRANSCOM to act on. No longer theoretical options, established infrastructure, procedures and relationships will provide the stability to make decisive action that can turn results in the field,” says Kevin R. Curtis, Senior Vice President of Mondo International, Inc., a worldwide organization that provides logistics, distribution, transportation, warehousing and other services across the globe, specifically in war zones. Mondo is currently a designated Prime Vendor for the U.S. Department of Defense and Defense Logistics Agency and operates over 600 trucks in Afghanistan.

According to the U.S. Government, the mission in Afghanistan is to help stabilize the country and its government, as well as to root out the Taliban and their insurgency. To achieve these goals, military and diplomatic objectives are to be carried out in the face of many challenges in transportation, supply, logistics and distribution. Challenges include a rapid troop increase with a choked NATO supply route along the Khyber Pass and countless insurgent attacks that prevent necessary fuel and supplies from being delivered to coalition forces. “As the U.S. looks for solutions, Commanders on the ground will undoubtedly remark “That’s a plausible idea, but is the infrastructure in place?” The reality is that companies in this line of work have to be innovative and commit to creating the potential for success. It is incumbent upon organizations like Mondo to provide the ability to answer “Yes” the infrastructure is ready, it is a viable option,” says Curtis.

Mondo International, Inc has been a part of this forward thinking in preparing their capabilities for the U.S. Government to act on. These efforts include seeking a new Northern Distribution Network with military supply lines through Central Asian into Afghanistan. Mondo seeks opportunities using their well connected partners with an excellent network of trustworthy, in-country relationships and highly placed contacts within the local or national governments in Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. The move will also displace the southern stronghold the Taliban insurgents currently hold.

Mondo is also in-part, responsible for finding solutions to deliver critical fuel to support aviation and other transport vehicles. Mondo is a participant in the three phase expansion of Camp Sharana, Afghanistan to regulate supply and demand by finding new suppliers, a new fuel storage facility and a massive pipeline to eliminate shortages and help regulate costs.

“You have to somewhat forecast the future and posture your company to fill the needs accordingly. That is what Mondo International is committed to, proving options that have not existed before. The geopolitical dynamics are so strong and delicate right now; it’s imperative that we listen to the policy, logic and posture of the administration and mirror our support operations in that fashion,” says Curtis. Mondo believes these and other proactive companies working in tandem will better serve U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan and ensure a successful strategic plan to stabilize Afghanistan.
